Photon (Hot Yoga Extra Heat)
Photon is our Atom sequence with a challenge. This class is not recommended for beginners.
Photon is the Atom sequence with the heat turned up: 100°F at 65% humidity, the hottest room on our schedule. The postures are the ones you know from Atom; the challenge is everything around them. This class is not recommended for beginners, and we mean that literally rather than as a dare.
What changes at 100°F isn't the yoga. It's the demand on your body's cooling system, and just a few degrees increases the challenge by a lot. Higher heat and humidity together mean sweat evaporates more slowly, your heart works harder to move heat out, and the mental game of staying steady in discomfort becomes a real part of the practice. That's the appeal for experienced practitioners: the same familiar sequence becomes an endurance session, and the depth you can reach in a fully warmed body is unlike anything at lower temperatures. The adaptation process is well understood; here's how your body actually adjusts to heat and humidity. But it has to be built, not assumed.
Do I Need Experience Before Taking Photon?
Yes. Take enough Atom classes that the sequence is second nature and the 98.6°F room feels manageable. Then Photon becomes a heat challenge on top of a practice you own, instead of two battles at once. If you're still deciding between our hot yoga classes, the ladder is Electron (92°F) to Atom (98.6°F) to Photon (100°F): one sequence, three rooms, each earned by the one before it.
Who Photon Is For
- Experienced Atom practitioners ready for more. If the signature class has stopped feeling like a challenge, this is where the ceiling moves.
- Heat lovers. Some practitioners simply do their deepest work in the hottest room. Photon is built for them.
- Endurance-minded athletes. The cardiovascular load of working postures at 100°F makes this as much conditioning as flexibility work.
- Practitioners chasing depth. A fully warmed body reaches ranges that a moderate room doesn't offer. Photon is where long-time students go to find the next inch.
What to Expect
Hydrate through the day before class, not just at the door. Wear minimal, moisture-wicking clothing and bring a large water bottle. The mat and towel are provided, and you will use the towel. Set your pace early, before the heat sets it for you: resting in the room still trains your heat tolerance, and stepping into a resting pose early is how experienced practitioners finish strong. Our patented climate control (US Patent 12,209,760) holds the room precisely at target, so the environment is consistent every single class. The variable is you on that day.
How Often
One to three classes a week, and watch your recovery. Many members treat Photon as the peak session of their week and fill the rest with Atom, Electron, or a restorative class like Aura.
Where to Practice
Photon is offered at our Plano, Southlake, and Las Colinas locations.
